ARRIVAL BY CAR

There are several parking spaces around the old town of Monschau. The closest to us is the Burgau car park/P3 (7 euros for 24 hours/coins needed!). When staying minimum 3 days, the Monschau Tourism Office (next to Hotel Alt Montjoie) offers discounted tickets for the price of 3 Euros per day..YOU WILL NEED THE PLATE NUMBER of your car, the ticket is digital. Please check for the opening hours of the Tourism Office.

The parking lot at the craftsman's market / Handwerkermarkt is with 4 Euro per day also an option. For the navigation system: Herbert Isaac Street

In the small center of the old town, you may only park for short-term. The traffic is regulated by a traffic light at the entrance to the old town.

To unload your luggage, you can still drive into the village. Press the "Short-Term Parking" button and the traffic light will turn green. If you arrive from Trier/Höfen it is best to stop at Gerberplatz directly opposite the Hotel Alt Montjoie.

Coming from Aachen/Imgenbroich follow the road until the “Seidenfabrik” car park. Just after you have entered the old town, follow a narrow street to the right called Schauffenberg. Followed by Bergstrasse it will lead you to  Kirchstrasse. Shortly after the church you will see the Alt Montjoie on your left (Kirchstrasse 41, green building).

You may stop in front of the garage or next to the wall to drop off your luggage.

Please consider that the fact that there are only very few cars, is an important part of the charm of the old town. Also the narrow streets might be very crowded.  That is why we recommend to park at parking Burgau and take a 5 minutes walk along the river Rur to the hotel 😉

Monschau is a very "slow" little village, especially in the evening.
Cigarettes are almost not available
Many places do accept only cash
